Vaughn v. American Honda Motor Company

Mr. Holmes acted as lead counsel for the Plaintiff class in this first of its kind, nationwide class action for odometer fraud. In April of 2004, Mr. Holmes and his team filed suit against Honda alleging that it had intentionally modified its odometers to over-register mileage. As a result, every Honda and Acura owner in the United States had been deprived of the warranties for which they paid. In addition, many owners had paid lease mileage penalties which they clearly did not owe. In November of 2006, Mr. Holmes and his team achieved a comprehensive settlement on behalf of more than 6 million Honda and Acura owners in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands which will return 100% of out of pocket damages to class members and extend all warranties and lease contracts by 5% for the lifetime of the vehicles. The settlement is valued at more than $100 million.

Mr. Holmes and his team have already filed a similar case against Nissan Motor Company.  He is also part of a team which has now initiated odometer litigation against Honda in Canada
